I could be a brick on a city wall,
standing straight, proud, tall
I could be a rose on a climbing vine
always reaching for the sunshine
I could be a river rushing to the sea
drops of water racing, ready to be free
I could be the clay shaped into a mug
holding warm drinks like a tangible hug
I could be a book, a bird, a tree,
but I think I’d rather go ahead and be me
NaPoWriMo 2024 – Day 18: Today, we’d like to challenge you to write a poem in which the speaker expresses the desire to be someone or something else, and explains why.
